Satoshi to USD Converter

Convert satoshis to dollars, dollars to satoshis, and both to bitcoin, at the live Bitcoin price. Type in any of the three fields and the other two follow. The tables below cover the amounts people actually ask about, from one sat to a whole coin, and every result is a link you can share.

A satoshi is one hundred-millionth of a bitcoin. It's the unit the network counts in, and as the price rises it's increasingly the unit people quote in.

How sats, bitcoin and dollars relate

There are exactly 100,000,000 satoshis in one bitcoin, and that ratio never changes. The dollar value of a sat is the Bitcoin price divided by a hundred million, so at a $100,000 Bitcoin one sat is a tenth of a cent and a thousand sats is a dollar.

1 BTC = 100,000,000 sats
USD = sats / 100,000,000 x BTC price
Sats = USD / BTC price x 100,000,000
Sats per dollar = 100,000,000 / BTC price

Why sats matter more as the price rises

Quoting in whole bitcoin becomes awkward once a coffee costs a five-figure fraction of one. Sats fix that: a $5 coffee at a $100,000 Bitcoin is 5,000 sats. Sats per dollar is the inverse view, and it falls as Bitcoin rises; at $1,000,000 per coin one sat would equal one cent. The Bitcoin brief covers the supply schedule that makes the total number of sats fixed, and the halving guide covers why new supply keeps shrinking.

Where the price comes from

The Bitcoin price is fetched from CoinGecko by your browser when the page loads and refreshed on demand. If that request fails, the converter falls back to a snapshot dated on the page and says so. You can also type a price of your own to see conversions at a level Bitcoin hasn't reached, which is what the tables are for.
